The Rules of the Shatibiyyah

A Digital Reference Guide to Qira'at through Imam al-Shatibi's Masterwork

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

As-salamu alaykum,

Welcome the this Shatibiyyah reference guide. This work originally started in Sha'ban 1447 as a way to review the Shatibiyyah. The content on this website is almost exclusively from the late Mufti Mohamed-Umer Esmail's Tashil al-Shatibiyyah with the permission of the Ustadha Saaima Yacoob who along with Ustadha Sulma Badrudduja and Ustadh Syed Junaid Tayyab have posthumously edited and published his works. At times the descriptions and notes you will find are verbatim from Tashil al-Shatibiyyah so it may be better to view this resource as a digitization/summarization of that work. I ask that Allah accept this work and make it a means of immense reward for Mufti Umer, his students that edited and published Tashil al-Shatibiyyah and Ustadha Saaima who is taking the time to teach it to a weak student like me.

This website is not a line by line commentary on the Shatibiyyah like Tashil al-Shatibiyyah or Qari Saleem Gaibie's Ghunyat al-Talabah (which was also consulted at times), instead it aims to provide a quick reference guide for the rules provided therein. Specifically the uṣūl portion in the first 444 lines of the Shatibiyyah. In the future it may expand to also cover the furūsh if Allah wills.

Finally, all of the content on this website is hosted on GitHub and so is available to be built upon further or corrected. If you see any errors while looking through this work I ask that you attribute them to me and please contribute towards fixes via GitHub.

To do, add the content in the introductary sections of al-Shatibiyyah
